New Horizons Test Preparation is Shanghai’s fastest-growing test prep company. We teach SAT, SSAT, TOEFL, GMAT, and academic writing to students ages 12 and up. Our students are almost exclusively international school kids/ expats – they already speak English fluently, and are preparing to study either high school or university in the United States. New Horizons is an American owned; we’re a fairly young, energetic group of professional instructors, and we’re looking to add one more to the team.
The position involves some teaching and some office time/meeting with parents.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be a native English speaker from the US or Canada
• Have at least one year of teaching experience, preferably test preparation. Strong test-prep background is highly preferred.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Have received at least a score of 1450 on his/her SAT in high school (we test all candidates before final offer of employment)
• Have a good sense of humor, a sense of adventure, and a polished (or polish-able) presence for meeting parents
• Chinese language skills are NOT required, but Chinese speakers are particularly encouraged to apply.
This job will require evenings and weekends – days off are flexible but are always weekdays. On weekdays, a typical schedule might be 1pm-9pm some of the time.
Compensation is very competitive, including:
• Salary of RMB 17,000 per month based on 40 hours/week (max 25 teaching hours).
• Visa and work permit
• One week paid vacation with flexible options to take additional, unpaid vacation
